Can I use an absolute encoder with the PCI-7344 motion controller?

I need to control a DC motor's speed and absolute position. Can I use an absolute encoder with the PCI-7344 motion controller? Also, is it possible to introduce "jitter" to the motor (i.e. rotational ripple, amplitude 1 or 2 degrees, frequency unknown) superimposed on a steady state rotation using LabVIEW software?

There is a great Developer Zone article that discusses using feedback device with a National Instruments 7344 motion controller at:

http://zone.ni.com/devzone/devzoneweb.nsf/Opendoc?openagent&753E51FC3B1FCE338625683F0054332C

This article specifically addresses using an absolute encoder. There is also an example LabVIEW program that uses an absolute encoder available at:

http://zone.ni.com/devzone/devzoneweb.nsf/Opendoc?openagent&9C7EAB8D9C869F7586256842005C7ECD

For reference, I found both of these documents by going to zone.ni.com and searching for "absolute encoder."
