Multiple PCi 7344 and single PC.

Hi all,

I have a query which may or may be not workable. But in any case i want to have some feedbacks from you.
I have a PC with three PCi slots.I have three PCI 7344 Motion Control cards. Now from each PCI 7344 I have to control two different machines. Each machine has two axis.so arhitmetically thinking I should be able to control 6 machines i.e 12 axis.
The program part will be same for all this machine. When i run the program all the machines should run the same program. But how can i progam it.I am little doubtful on Board ID issue and the axis configuration.

Can I have your views on this problem?

Hi,

just recently I have been working with a customer who is using 4 PCI-7344 in one PC to control four 3-axis stages. This application is just working fine so I don't see a reason why your's shouldn't. In fact you can control each axis in each board seperately. I agree that keeping track of the correct board IDs and axis numbers requires some care and you will have to make sure that all boards are initialized only once in the beginning but this shouldn't be too tough either.

Maybe for this type of application an object oriented programming approach could be useful but it's not mandatory. If you are interested in OOP with LabVIEW please click on this link.
