pci 7324

I have an old pci 7324 board and am trying to get it working with Labview 7.1 and the following configuration : - NI-DAQ 7.3.0f1 and Motion 6.1.2.

I have read on the web site that the PCI 7324 board is discontinued along with the value motion drivers.  I have downloaded the latest valuemotion drivers, although reading between the lines, this will not work with Labview 7.1.  Is this correct?

Thus for me to use the system, I will require Labview 6.0, an old version of NI-DAQ and old version of value-motion.  Is this correct?

Wayne,

as you wrote the PCI-7324 is a ValueMotion board and it's obsolete but I don't see a reason why this board shouldn't work with LV 7.1.
You will need to install ValueMotion 5.0.2 on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME. Please note that XP is not supported. After the installation you should run a mass compile on the valuemotion directories in vi.lib and in the examples folder. After that you should be able to use the ValueMotion vis in LabVIEW 7.1.

On the other hand I don't really recommend using this board, especially if you plan to use it for intermediate or high stepper rates as the velocity resolution of this board isn't very good and it becomes even worse the faster the motor moves, resulting in bumpy acceleration and limited travel speed and torque. The best option would be to contact your local NI branch for a hardware upgrade to a PCI-7334 which is the drop-in replacement (form, fit and function) for the PCI-7324. The 7334 can be used with the latest NI-Motion driver and provides superior step generation capabilities. For hardware upgrades NI offers attractive discounts.
