200431measurement type error

I'm trying to utilize the angular encoder in labview to read off position from two seperate encoders.  Currently i'm just trying to get one of them to work.  I don't know what's wrong with it now.  The error is

Error -200431 occurred at DAQmx Create Channel (CI-Position-Angular Encoder).vi:1

Property: CI.MeasType
You Have Requested: Position:Angular Encoder
You Can Select: Frequency, Period, Pulse Width, Semi Period, Count Edges

I'm using a NI PCI-6034E with the BNC-2120 connected as an accessory.

Am I doing something wrong in trying to used the angular encoder?

I verified that it worked by counting the edges through a daq assistant. and the counter continuously incremented however i want it to read me accurate angles regardless of the direction i turn my platform.

The device I am connecting is a Heds-9000 angular encoder and the  two output signals are in quadrature.

Hello nathanklessig,

First of all, welcome to the NI forums. It is definitely possible to do what you are trying to, however the E series DAQ card does not support the angular encoder task that you are trying to run.  That type of task is for our M series devices.  I searched our website (keywords "encoder E series") and found a few articles that should help you out:
