I am getting the following warnings when trying to calibrate and use the 9945 350Ohm quarter bridge acces. with the 9237 mod in a 9172 chassis:

"Warning 200045 occurred at DAQ Assistant

Possible Reason(s):

Measurements: EEPROM of the device appears to be corrupt. Contact National Instruments if the device appears to be functioning improperly."


and:


"error -200380:

Strain gauge calibration procedure has failed. Ensure that the strain gauges are connected to all the specified strain channels, the strain gauge connections are appropriate for their bridge type configurations, the shunt resistor location is specified correctly, and that your hardware jumpers (if any) are set up correctly."


I can read a strain signal through MAX, but it just wont calibrate, and I get the 200045 error if I try to access the signal through SignalExpress or LabVIEW.

I figured it out after I got to talking with an NI engineer......

What cable are you using to connect the bridge completion module to the 9237? 

I looked at it and at first glance thought it was a standard Ethernet-style RJ45 cable. Well it turns out that the RJ45 cable has 8 pins and the connector on the 9945 to 9237 has 10 pins. The outer most pins that dont connect on the RJ45 are the shunt cal connections. I bought the cables through NI and it solved it.

I am also getting the same error with my 9237 Strain gage module,  but I even get this Warning message with out any wires connected.  Has anyone heard anymore about this problem?  I have been dealing with NI for about 3 weeks now and still have the same problem.  We sent back two modules for repair, and instead they replaced them with new ones.  The 2 replacements still show the same problem.  We also ordered 4 Modules for another system in the mean time and none of them work either.  We have tried these modules in known good systems with no luck and tried known good modules in the questionable system and they work.  So I believe we definitely have a module issue.  Please help.

Hi bkl,

The error you are experiencing is possibly due to a known issue with firmware shipped on some NI 9237s.  You can repair the firmware by either writing to the user defined area of the EEPROM or by modifying the EEPROM password.  The KnowledgeBase article: KB 4EUB3NNO: Warning 200045 When Using NI-9237 in NI cDAQ-9172, describes several options to fix the error.  The fix has only recently been made available, which would explain why you did not receive this answer the first time you sent your boards in for repair.  Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you, I recieved an email from Ima with the fix for this problem.  I am really glad that it has finally been resolved after a month of phone calls and sending modules back for repair.  I am also happy to see that the fix has been posted on the NI website so that others should not have to go through the same pains that we did to get this issue resolved.  Thanks again for your help.
