Hello Zeph,
There could be a number of reasons for this behavior. To try and narrow things down a bit it would help if you could answer some questions about the details of what is happening with your device:
1. Has the device ever been detected by MAX? Has this issue only recently started after you added the NI 9205 to the NI 9172 chassis or is this the first time you have used this NI 9172?
2. Does this issue occur on multiple computers or only on a single computer?
3. Have you tried different USB plugs on the computer? Have you tried the NI 9205 in different slots of the NI 9172? (always remember to press
F5 when you add a new device to refresh the device list in MAX)
4. Does the device appear in the Windows Device Manager? You can find the Device Manager by right-clicking on
My Computer on your desktop and selecting
Properties, in the
System Properties window go to the
Hardware tab and select
Device Manager. Once in the Windows Device Manager, you should see your device listed under Data Acquisition Devices but could appear elsewhere if it is not recognized correctly.
5. What color are the LEDs on the NI 9172? Are they on? Are they green or amber in color when the device is connected to the computer?
Finally, I also wanted to provide you some information about the connector you described. On page 79, the
NI cDAQ-9172 User Guide and Specifications states the following regarding the power connector:
"Power input mating connector ............... Switchcraft S760K"
Based on that information, I was able to find several parts vendors online who sell the mating connector, like Mouser
here and Digi-Key
here. I hope this helps.
