I downloaded the most recent NI critical update and my 6009 now fails the selftest in NI MAX

I downloaded a NI critical update this week and immediately had problems with my NI 6009 multifunction DAQ.  I've have a Labview program that I've used for two years that employs the 6009 analog inputs as an oscilloscope for pulse train counting.  I no longer can get data from the analog inputs.  The NI max self test also fails because it can't find the instrument (even though the green led is flashing).  When I connect the USB 6009 to a different computer (using the same USB cable) where the update was not downloaded, everything works fine and the self test passes.  It is clear the NI update has interfered with the functionality of the 6009.  Can I unload this update somehow?

Do you see the 6009 in Measurement & Automation Explorer?  The device name may have been re-assigned which may be the case as the LED is blinking meaning it's connected.

Yes, I do see the 6009 in MAX, but when I open the test panel, I get an error that the device fails the self test.  The error that MAX reports is -88705, device not present.  Yet, when I unplug the device and replug it in, after about a minute the NI device monitor recognizes it as a 6009.  So it does look like the system is not fully recognizing the 6009.  FYI, I'm using DAQmx 9.2.2 and Labview 8.6.1.

I'm wondering if going into Windows XP and restoring the system to an earlier date, before the update would work.  Would that affect the NI installation?

Hello Bulsan, hope you are doing great!

Do you know what is the file name, of this critical update from NI? what it updated?
Where did you get it from? Was this because of a prompt message comming from MAX?

Bulsan,

What o/s are you running?

Seems to me that the problem is not because the NI critical update.

Can you please verify the "NI Device Loader Service " is running?

you can check this if you go to the Control Panel» Administrative tools» Component services make sure the service is running, if not restart it, un plug and plug the 6009 devce.

Lisa,

Thanks, for some reason the device loader was turned off.   I turned it back on, unplugged the 6009, then plugged it back in again.  Everything is now working.  I don't know how the loader got turned off.

By the way, I'm running Windows XP and I'm not sure what changed the system.   The update I was referring to was an NI update that was announced through a box in the lower right corner of my computer screen either Friday or Monday.

Thanks again,

Gary
