Hi
I have Labview 8.5 installed on my computer and I have been using for a while. I defined virtual devices with MAX and I developed some VIs with LabView before deploying them on measurements devoted computers with hardware devices.
Now MAX can't be started anymore. I have a standard XP error window with the following description
AppName: nimax.exe AppVer: 4.3.0.49152 ModName: mxmax.dll
ModVer: 4.3.0.49152 Offset: 000228ce
I have tried to
1 ) repair MAX, NI-DAQ drivers
2 ) uninstall/ Reinstall everything
but nothing worked
What can I do ?

I am not familiar with the NI forums. Is it the correct board to post the previous message to ?

Hello Félicien,
Sounds like Max got messed up.
While this might not be the fastest solution, it has worked for me in the past when nothing else would.
It's a utility NI created to help uninstall stuff.
When I ran into a similar problem as yours a few weeks ago, (due to a sudden loss of power during a DAQ install) I used the utility to wipe out everything. Then I rebooted and re-installed. It took time. But it worked.
Good luck.

Patrick,
Sounds long but it seems I don't have any other choice.
Can't try it right now cause my dear collegue has stored the install DVDs in secure lock and gone home...
Thanks anyway, I'll try it tomorrow !

I tried the uninstall procedure according to Uninstall NI Software.doc
(standard unsintall, registry, MSI Blast)
and I reinstalled Labview 8.5 and NI Drivers but I run into the same problem...
MAX still crashes.

Hmmm...not good.
One thing that may or may not be important, is rebooting after uninstall.
Try MSI blast and remove *everything* it lists. Then reboot your PC before reinstalling.
If you've already tried this...then I'm really sure what to try next. Reinsalling the OS might not be possible in your case. But it is an option. (...although not a very good one)
It maybe time to put in a call to tech support.

Hi
I rebooted as specified in the NI doc file.
MSI Blast doesn't show any NI elements in the list...
and reinstalling the OS is not the solution I 'd prefer
Thanks anyway,
I'll try to contact the tech support as you advised, we'll see what they think
