Hi Nguyen duy Hung,
Are you using the USB-9211(Mac OS X and Linux) or USB-9211A(Windows)? I wanted to verify that I understand your meaning of “hot” and “cold” plugged. I understand “hot” plugged to be plugging in the 9211 while the computer is on, and “cold” plugged to be having the device in the computer when it is restarted or plugging in the device to the computer while it is off. I also believe that you are fixing the 9211 problem by (after the computer is booted up) unplugging the device and plugging it back in.
I have attempted to recreate your problem, but have had no success by trying all combinations of restarting and turning on/off the computer, along with hot swapping devices.
Do the devices switch behavior if they
switch USB ports? Does the 9211 have the same behavior on another computer, and
are you currently using a laptop or desktop? What O.S.?
Since the light on the 9211 is not coming on, this means that it is not getting power or initializing correctly. Are you using the latest DAQmx driver version (8.3.1)? You can find what version you are using by opening Measurement and Automation Explorer » Software Folder » clicking on NI-DAQmx.

"Are you using the USB-9211(Mac OS X and Linux) or USB-9211A(Windows)? "
It is Mandriva 2006, desktop Mandriva 2006 kernel 2.6.12-12mdk i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80GHz
with NI -DAQmx Base for Linux version 2.1

Yes, you are right.

NI 9211 can not "power on" , i.e. the light simply does not turn on, if plugged in to some USB ports. In fact I have to buy DUB-H7 D-Link USB hub according to advices from your Asian support team (They said this hub is used successfully at their demonstration). With this hub then NI 9211 can be powered on with any computer. But it suffers the same "cold plug" problem
Currently, I use a desktop computer connecting to 9211 and 6008 directly (not through above USB hub). Among my destops, this computer is the only one that can "power on" NI 9211

Yes, hot-plug for a USB devices is supposed to do any device initialisation. I believe that NI 9211 cold-plug failed to initliase as correctly as cold-plug. How can we "re-initialise" NI 9211 when it is cold-plugged??03-01-2007 09:19 PM - edited 03-01-2007 09:19 PM
