I'd like use SignalExpress to collect counter data with my M-series 6229 at 1kHz or so. However, when I try to record this data it almost immediately errors out and tells me that the sample period is too short (I had it set to single sample).
I understand that to collect counter input data in continuous mode I need to provide an external clock. Can I use one of the digital outputs to generate a pulse train and then wire it up to use it as the 'external' clock for the counter input?

Hello,
I was able to perform a 1 Sample (on Demand) Edge Count counter measurement with a sample period of 1ms (1kHz) with no error with my PCI-6251 no problem. What kind of counter measurement are you looking to make.
Secondly, yes you should be able to produce a frequency out of your second counter that you will be able to wire into a PFI line for use as an external clock on your first counter. You could do this with a digital out port but you would have to build a waveform to output first. It will be much easier to just generate a counter output task so you can specify frequency. Good Luck!
