Using sc2345 with USB connector

Hello,

I've got an sc2345 connector block that I've been connecting to various laptops using a 6036e PCMCIA card.  On the first two laptops (running XP), the PCMCIA slot went bad, and the third (a new one, running Vista) doesn't even have one.  I've been thinking about switching over to USB anyway (for portability reasons), and I was wondering what my options would be.  Thanks.

Hi Eric,

If you used the NI-DAQmx Driver to program the acquisition then you could easily transition over to an M-Series USB DAQ device, such as the NI USB-6251 or the NI USB-6221 (Mass termination since you want to connect to the SC-2345).  Both devices offer 16 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs.  You can look over the other specifications to make sure the device will work for your application.

Since you already have a NI DAQCard-6036E, you may want to attempt to use a PCMCIA to USB adapter before purchasing a new device.  Unfortunately, National Instruments does not manufacture the adaptors and therefore cannot guarantee their compatibility (or performance) with the NI DAQCard-6036E.
