VI Logger Crash

I run VI Logger 2.0.1 with NI-DAQPAD 6015. I select the control logging with a digital channel for the logging condition of the task. The task logs data intermittently with an interval of few hours or few minutes. The cycle begins with logging data for an interval of few minutes. Then, it is followed by a gap of few hours (i.e. 6 hours) before repeating the cycle. The task initially worked perfectly during the few minutes interval. However, it crashed after the few hours gap. Please see the attached error message. I tried the suggested remedy in the error message without any success.

Hello Sendi,

This was reported to R&D (#3U08L2V9) for further investigation. A possible workaround would be to increase your sample rate or use the default sample rate for the task.

Additionally, we have recently released a new data logging software that is intended to expand the feature set of VI Logger and provide increased functionality. NI LabVIEW SignalExpress can be downloaded for free from our website here

Thanks for the response.

As suggested, I doubled the sampling speed from 1 kHz to 2kHz. However, the following error message popped up when the task logged data.

Hello Sendi,

Are you running two tasks in parallel? Just to confirm, are you running this VI Logger task in MAX, as a standalone application or in LabVIEW?

I would strongly recommend that you consider moving to LabVIEW SignalExpress. This is our latest datalogging software and provides a much larger feature set. In addition, there is a utility to convert VI Logger data to LabVIEW SignalEpxress data on our website here. This utility should aid with the transition to the new software.

I only run one task. I  run the VI Logger on MAX as a standalone application. To try on the LabVIEW SignalExpress is currently beyond my project scope.

Hello Sendi,

Just want to add that LabVIEW signalexpress is now being shipped instead of VI Logger.  It uses DAQmx 8.5 which will work great with the DAQPad 6015.  It is very simple to use and you can convert your VI Logger data into data for LabVIEW SignalExpress as Matt already mentioned.  It has all the features that VI Logger has plus more advanced features as well.  Could you please explain why you feel that LabVIEW SignalExpress is out of the scope of your project?

Thank you,
