version of ubuntu that supports nidaqmx

I have a system running Windows 8 that currently supports both a PCI-6220 and PCI-4461. I want to multi boot the machine and use Ubuntu to support these boards as well. However, when I installed the latest version of Mint 20.2 (a Ubuntu clone) and then tried to use apt-get to install nidaqmx, the install failed and completely broke my apt-get installation process. The install failed when configuring  ni-kal and everything from that point failed because ni-kal was not configured. When I tried to use apt-get to install other software, apt-get attempted to re-run the post processing for nidaqmx, again failing. This meant the other software install also failed. Things got so bad that I had to reinstall mint.

My question is: what version of Ubuntu supports nidaqmx; that is, what version will properly install nidaqmx and not fail on the configuration of ni-kal? Useful information would be the version of Ubuntu, the version of the kernel and the version of nidaqmx (which is drawn from the bionics repository) that just works. I will then install this version of Ubuntu and try to get things going.

I'm afraid all I can say is "It works for me": NI-Linux-Device-Drivers-devices-not-detected

I didn't need to do anything special on ubuntu 20.04.2 to get nikal loaded installing the "NI Linux Device Drivers" (2021 Q3)" package.

(What do you mean by killed apt-get? FWIW I used "apt install nidaqmx" for the final stage, not apt-get)

(My issue is that PCI-6014 isn't supported by NI LInux Device Drivers any more - your 6220 / 4461 looks good)

Thanks for replying. By killed apt-get I mean the post processing step for installing nidaqmx failed. Then when I attempt to load any other app using apt install, apt attempts to run the nidaqmx post processing and again fails. The failure occurs in such a way that the post processing for the app I am trying to install never runs and therefore, I can't install other software. I gave up and reinstalled mint 20.2

Added later: on Mint apt is a wrapper that calls apt-get. apt supports more user friendly parameters.

I gave up on Mint 20.2. I had a spare partition, so I installed Mint 19.2 and successfully installed nidaqmx on it. Details of how to do this are found here: https://forums.ni.com/t5/Linux-Users/2019-NI-Drivers-on-ubuntu/m-p/4172576#M3195
