Hello all,
is it a known problem what I got with the ADC16 in multisim 10? It is a virtual component and everything was going well until a save the simulation and close the programm. After that I couldn't open the simulation file I saved, because it breaks the software. That is already the second time I try to do the same circuit and a lose it. Sometimes I can see the circuit before it breaks down, but only see. When I try handling anything it breaks.
In this circuit I take the ADC16 outputs and insert into a 74LS373 and that's basically all.
Did anyone have any similar problem with this part? Something I could do to avoid this problem?
Thank you all in advance,
Brunno Ferraz

Hi Brunno,
Thank you for reporting this. I placed a 16 bit ADC in Multisim with a 74LS373 connected to its output. I simulated and saved the file. I closed and reopened Multisim but was unable to recreate this problem. Are you using Multisim 10.0 or 10.1? Pro, Edu or Student version? Also, what kind of computer do you have (CPU and OS)? Can you post the file that is causing this crash?
Thanks.

Hey Yi,
thanks for your support. I'm using Multisim 10.0. My PC is a AMD Turion X2 64 bits 2GHz with Vista Home Premium 32 bits.
I tried to do the same circuit for the third time and the software didn't break down yet. At this point it should be already broken, based on last experiences.
I am trying to reproduce the same error I had but it is not happening again. Anyway it's still difficulty for me to classify it as a good thing.
I am cleaning Instrument Data every time before saving (these data are not useful for me). I tested saving without clearing instrument data, but despite that the problem didn't appear.
Well, sometimes when I try to save projects (or just close the software after saving) the software breaks. Could it be an installation issue? It doesn't bring problems to the saving process at all.
Attached is the circuit I was working when I got these breaking problems.
Thanks,

Have you updated Multisim? Early versions of Multisim 10.0 are known to have issues with Windows Vista. You can use the Check For Updates item in your start menu to update Multisim if you haven't done so already.

Hi Yi,
here I am again with the same problem. The point is, I have no clue why my Multisim is breaking, but it's driving me crazy.
I updated my 10.0 Multisim to the 10.0.1 Evaluation mode. I have a Vista Home Premium.
Some times I am working in a schem and the program simply breaks. That wouldn't be much problem if the program could bring back the file I was working in. Since I had a problem with a specific file I can not reopen it afterwards. Every time when I try to reopen this file the program breaks again, which means that I lose the file I was editing.
Worse than that is the fact that I don't know what I do to cause the problem. It occurs during some normal situation like pasting something or moving some wires.
Attached is the last file I was working with that I can't open anymore. If somebody could please try to open it I would appreciate. Just tell me if you can do it and then which version of Multisim you are using.
At the beginning I thought it was a problem with ADC16, but it wasn't and by now I was think that it was a problem caused by the switch DSWPK_8 (the red one) and I just got a problem with this file (attached) which contains no switch.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks again,
Brunno Ferraz

Hi Brunno,
I did have Multisim crash when opening this file as well. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to figure out why this is the case. We will look into this and try our best to resolve it for future versions of Multisim. Your file will help us a lot.
Do you have the Create a "Security Copy" option turned on? If so, Multisim automatically creates a backup file which you can restore if Multisim crashes and corrupts your file. You can access this option in your Global Preferences in the Save tab. The backup files are saved to filename.ms10 (Security copy). Just rename and remove the (Security copy) text to get your file back prior to the crash.
I don't have any other ideas at the moment. Please keep us posted if you find out why this is happening. Sorry for the inconvenience.
