File lost in Multisim

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

Something very unfortunate happened today. As it happens from time to time, Multisim somehow lost its connection to the database and began popping error 3078 message dialogs. When this starts, there's no way to stop this but to kill Multisim.

I did just that, and found soon after that Multisim broke the file I was working on, which means that I lost several hours of work. The file is now 0 kB big, and it looks like the security copy was not done today as it contains only last week's version of this schematic.

No need to tell you that this is quite frustrating...

What happened??

Alex

Hi Alex,

  • Multisim version/edition?
  • Operating system?
  • Multisim lost connection to the Master, Corporate or User DB?
  • Do you have the Corporate DB on a network location?

Hello Alex,

Let's try merging the Corporate DB (from the network location) into a fresh Corporate DB file.

  • Make sure that Multisim points to the local Corporate DB (hard drive, not the network location); clean/remove any components.
  • In Multisim go to Tools>>Database>>Merge Database
  • Select your target Database (in this case the Corporate DB).
  • Click on "Select a Component Database Name".
  • Browse the Corporate DB file that contains your custom components, click Open
  • All the components should be copied to this fresh Corporate DB. Use the Database Manager to double-check this.
  • Place the Corporate DB file on your network location, point to it.

Let us know how this works.

Hi Fernando,

We did that, however several components were corrupted or lost. Of course it is better to lose 10 components than the entire DB, but that worries me a bit.

Thank you,

Alex
