Is there a connection between Simulink and Multisim?

Is there any way to start a design in Simulink and proceed to circuit and board design using Multisim and Ultiboard?

Has anyone done this?

Andrew,

There is no direct translator tool between Simulink and Multisim. A few things might be possible:
1. If you've designed your control algorithm there are some control blocks in Multisim. The are located under Sources -> Control Function Blocks. Try to see if you can replicate the Simulink functions in Multisim.
2. There are several transfer function blocks available in Multisim. There is a good example under the Open Samples menu option that will show you the variety of transfer function blocks available in Multisim which may be able to describe the system level blocks you are implementing in Simulink.

Hopefully this will give you a start.

I was trying to answer this  question (from the Linkedin Mechatronics discussion group:

Which is the best and comfortable software (with intelligence )for electrical control system design, can any one share me some information regarding this ?

My best answer was this:

Multisim, which is now a National Instruments product, is a good choice.

I am assuming you want to work at the circuit level. Granting this assumption, you can do the Control System design directly in Multisim. Then do circuit capture into their Ultiboard Printed Circuit Board Design.

Alternatively one can use their LabVIEW system as the platform for a higher level design. This option permits importing Simulink solutions.

I had been envisioning this approach Simulink->Multisim->Ultiboard-> PCB., which I had thought possible, till checked  the NI documentation to understand how this would go.  The best one could manage would be to take the Simulink output, and more-or-less manually convert this to a circuit designed in Multisim.  I think a Simulink->Multisim link would find a market.
