Multisim, Ultiboard will not start error: 0xc0000005

Just recently my install of Multisim and Ultiboard v8 won't run.  It crashes with and error of: "Application failed to initialize 0xc0000005"  I was just running it the other week with no issues.  Any idea how to fix this?  I've already tried to repair and re-install the software, but that hasn't fixed it.

I happen to work with Mitch and his machine doesn't seem to be the only one.  As a matter of fact all the machines running either MultiSim v9 or v8 get the same application error.  I'm the sole IT employee at this work place and other than trying to re-install the software (which doesn't work) there isn't much else I can attempt to fix this.  The machines are running Win XP Pro SP3 and completely up to date with Microsoft Patches.  Could a registry change have caused this or a Microsoft patch?  Does MultiSim itself need an update or patch?  Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?  Thanks!

Hi Mitch,

It seems that this issue is related to the recent release of Symantec RU5.  You can read about it here on their website.  You may be able to allow Multisim to launch without scanning for viruses, but ultimately the issue lies with Symantec, rather than Multisim.  Thanks!
