*Very* New User! -- Two Simple Questions

Two months ago, out of utter desperation, as a "*Very* New User", I contacted this group for some beginner's help. Lacy and Lodin got me started -- thank you both!

One of my questions was a request for any links to Multisim tutorials. I have found, and have now gone through several, and I feel that I owe something back to the group -- to help other new users that find themselves in the same straits as I.

I will provide those links, but I suppose this thread is not the best place. I will start a new thread following this post. Then perhaps others, with greater experience than my own, can add their links to mine to further assist other new users...

Best regards,
~~diode

I'm not even sure how this stuff works but along with diode I am going to ask two simple questions.   I was told that i can get something to help me learn about basic electronic circuits and all.  I have been told allot about a bunch of programs out there but want to know about this one.  What I am looking for more than anything is something to grow with me as I become more up on the subject.  Now all in all I have found that I NEED a SIMULATION of some sort like in the program Bright Spark, but because I have no idea on how to use this one, I am asking here for some advise.

Does this program show a simulation of what is going to happen like the program Bright Spark.  I have already downloaded it's FREE test version and even though there is allot there, I do understand how it works, and want to know if MultiSim has the same function, and should I go on and spend so much more for MultiSim.

Thank You,

Dannny

This is a tough one to try and answer. I examined the program you descrbed and I can tell you that Multisim does not have the animations that this program appears to have. In other words, you would not be able to visibly see the current flwing through the wires. It does have some interactive parts that you can see like the LEDs, Relays opening and closing, switches that actually move and thing like that. But you have to use the instruments to view waveforms, current and voltages.

This software will grow with you as you become more experienced because it has a ton more components than the package in your post. You can go from basic circuits all the way to complex analog and digital circuits with Multisim. The possiblilties are limited to your own skill level. To this day I still learn something new either about the software or the components and I have been using it in one version or another for about 10 or more years.

As to whether to prurchase it or not is up to you. Only you can make that decision. I can only tell you, that for me, Multisim is the only software I use to design or anlyze circuit with. In my opinion it is the easiest to use that I have seen.

Try the evaluation version. Give it a whirl and see if it is right for you. If you need assistance in using the program there is a help file that can guide you through the rough spots (initial learning curve). There are also pre-made sample circuits that you can load and study. This may help in getting you familiar with the software.

I hope I have been of some help.
