multisim changes footprint name in netlist

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello, I have multisim 10.1.197

I create a part and assign its footprint (in this case it is ASC70-5) which is in the UB data base. Place the part in the schematic and view properties, and the footprint is still correct. Then transfer the design to UB and the footprint is not found. Reviewing the netlist shows the footprint for the device as SC70-5.

(instance "SC70-5" "U3"

It dropped the A.

It is not the A part that is the problem because all of our footprints start with A. Interestingly, the part ASC70-6 works fine and is not changed in the netlist.

If I change the footprint name to BSC70-5 and revise the part to have that footprint, all works OK.

A similar event occurs with the footprint ASOT-323-3, it lists the device in the netlist as ASOT323-3, it drops the first hyphen.

Other than that all other parts are listed and import correctly.

Here is another one,

You can clearly see that the freshly created part shows ASOT-23-6 in the multisim properties (see photoSSerror1).

But when the netlist is created it is changed to ASOT-23-3 (see photo SSerror2 )

There are other parts in the user library that have the ASOT-23-3 footprint, but not this one.

Sorry, my typo on the post, the Correct part is ATSOT-23-6

Doesnt change the problem, still converts it to ATSOT-23-3

Hi Anipros,

Try this:

1.  Double click on the component

2.  Edit component in db

3.  Footprint

4.  Add from Database

5.  Highlight the footprint mentioned from your database

6.  Scroll over to the Ultiboard Footprint column, you will likely see the name that was shown in the netlist, change it.

7.  Save the component to you db

8.  Replace it on the design.
