Hi
the ideal transformer equations are Ep/Es = n and Ip/Is = 1/n
Ep: primary voltage
Es: secondary voltage
Ip: primary current
Is: secondary current
why some multisim transformers models satify the equation Ip/Is = 1/n and others no ??
sorry for my english i use multisim 11

Hi,
It should be the difference between virtual and real component. The virtual component has ideals characteristics but the real component has the builder specification.
If it is not that, could you give me the reference of your component?

Hi there Samuel thanks for your help..
well i explain, if i take for example the TS_IDEAL transformer and we look to rms values of both current and voltage (i joined a picture), the Ep/Es = n is satified but not the Ip/Is = 1/n
and if i use the TS_XFMR1 transformer, both current and voltage equations are satisfied, why is that ?

Hi,
I did some tests on my computer. You can configure the TS_IDEAL as the TS_XFMR1. In fact, if you want an ideal transformer, set the coefficient of coupling (K) to 1. To set the inductors values, you need this equation:
Lp/Ls= (Np/Ns)^2
So in your case, if you set k =1
Lp=900
Ls=100
When you choose this configuration you have n=0.3 for Irms and Ip-p as you can see on print screen.
If you want more information you can take a look on this link:
How does the n turns ratio works in Multisim 10?

hi
could you plz send me this circuit file so i could test it ?
i am not having the same I(rms) value on the primary..
thanks

Hi
Thanx for the attached file, i tested it and it works now.
The problem in my circuit was the inductors values unit, i set them in mHenry (Lp = 100 mH, Ls = 900mH) and you set them in Henry
i do not understand why it does not work in (mH) ? i should look to a transformer course i think..
