ultiboard 12 - bug exporting gerber X

OK, I understand what you are saying and that may well be the answer.

Just one more thing, shouldn't Multisim 11 also support the new way Multisim 12 exports the gerber files?

I have to try it, but I believe Multisim 11 only "sees" one layer, the one I showed before, and with a lot of errors.

Just got word, the silkscreen top layer is being exported as an almost empty file.

No useful data inside.

I downloaded your Ultiboard file for your Dropbox.

You export gerber files from Ultiboard not Multisim and in Ultiboard 11 we didn't use polygon to create copper area, it was created by drawing overlapping lines.  If you using Ultiboard 12 or 13 and you want don't want to generate multiple layers, your only option is to change the copper area from a solid fill to a pattern and to do this, double click the copper area to open it properties dialog and under the "Copper area" tab, there is an option to change the file style.

Your design has two silkscreen layers, one is on the DXF mechanical layer and it is called "SILKSCREEN_TOP" with capital case and this is the layer you exported.  The other silkscreen layer is the one you want to export.  Have a look at the attached screen shot.

Hi,

You are absolutely right.

That one was a big mistake on my part.

Thank you for pointing it out, and the correction.

By the way, can you try to add a copper plane on the top layer and export it?

Is the generated gerber correctly interpreted on other softwares?

Thanks again for your effort.

Regards

Hi Tonitos,

I placed a power plane on the copper top and exported the gerber 274x, I used Viewmate to look at the gerber and it looks OK to me.

You are right.

Everything is fine. I tried other software and it worked.

But, not Multisim 11, this shows one layers with errors.

Is it possible, that the problem is not on Multisim 12, but on 11?

You will have to provide me with the Ultiboard file created in V11 and let me know which version you are using by selecting Help>>About and you should see the version in the brackets.  The gerber are generated differently in V11 and V12 but ultimately, you should be able to build the board.

Hello all ,

I'm having the same problem, i'm working with Ultiboard 12 and gerber is only well generated if we get our the power plane. Is there a Way to correct this issue, so the printer can print also the Power plane ?

With the ultiboard 11 no problem with this issue, so is there any option that we should put in Ultiboard 12 ?

Regards

The problem is not with Ultiboard 12.

The problema appears to be with Ultiboard 11 and some older softwares that dislike the way Ultiboard 12 "translates" the power planes to the gerber file.

Um abraço mano!

My solution was remove the power plane from the PCB. So we cannot have a solution to make ultiboard compatible with ancient versions of others software ?

Grande abraço mano :). Fico contente de ver ajudar a malta por aqui.
