view gerber files from other programs

I have gerber that were made in Cadsar 6 back in 2001 in RS274X fromat.

I now have Ultiboard 10 and want to view these older gerber files.

Can the Ultiboard 10 gerber viewer open these files?

I tried but was not able to see them.

Hello,

You should be able to simply grab the gerber file and drag it into an open window in Ultiboard. This should open the gerber viewer window and let you see the design. Would you like to upload your file and see if there is something wrong with it?

Kind regards,

Thanks for answering.

Sorry to get back so late.

I'll attach the gerber file that doesn't seem to be able to open in the Ultiboard gerber viewer.

I'll just give the top and an inner layer.

See if your able to view the gerber file.

Hey,

Both these files can be viewed just fine using both Ultiboard 10.1.1 to 12.0.1. Can I ask which version of Ultiboard you are using specifically? Also check the attached file if this is the correct output of your gerber file.

Kind Regards,

Yes.

your attacheed PNG file is the correct gerber file.

So now I see I should be able to view any gerber file, and I can view gerbers I created in Ultiboard.

I am using Ultiboard Edu Edition. Version 10.0.144.

We bought the full version through the University.

Do you have any suggestions I could try?

Hi,

So I just finished testing your file and it appears that your version of the Design Suite does have the feature to view Ultiboard gerber files, but not those generated from 3rd party applications. I would recommend (if all you want to do is view the file) to download a third party gerber viewer, there is a few free ones and others with trials. Otherwise your only option would be to upgrade to a newwer version of Circuit Design Suite, is this an option for you?

Best of luck,

Ok thanks

I do have another gerber viewer that I have been using.

Just wanted to understand why Ultiboard couldn't see the gerber files.

Guess not licensed for it with the Education Version.

Thanks Again for your help.
