Cannot re-deploy

I wanted to re-deploy the same build because the first time I had not removed some files and I wanted to make sure the new deployment loaded everything. I deleted the test target directory C:\automation\avionics. When running setup.exe TestStand wants to put the deployment in C:\automation\avionics and if I browse it shows both of these directories though they have been deleted. Perhaps this is why when I get to the Installation Summary screen it says  no software will be installed or removed. No NI software is running so why does it appear that setup is getting old file handles?

Update: Must be something else, I changed the target directory and it still will not install.

thanks,

jvh

Hi,

when you deleted the old deployment did you un-install this or just delete the folder(s).

Just deleted, setup does not give me an uninstall option.

Hi,

I thought setup will see a previous installation and uninstall it, or you can do it the normal way for uninstall programs via Control Panel.

I reckon since it is the same version it doesn't consider it previous. Anyway I just did another 10 minute build and 4 minute copy to my thumb drive and that looks enough like a new version that it installed (even though I changed nothing).

Thanks for posting Ray.

By deleting the files, the system was not notified that you uninstalled anything.  Since you are installing something that it thinks is already installed, it will not do anything.  In your deployment, either increase your version number or generate a new upgrade code (in advanced installer options).  Check Add/Remove programs and try to uninstall if the installer is still visible there.
