Preserving Teststand's settings between sessions (toolbars, window size)

Lately when I start my TestStand (either by opening a workspace, or by opening *.seq file) I always get all toolbars stacked on top of one another. Even if I line them up (so that they fit into one line), the next time TestStand is launched the toolbars are back on top of each other.
Plus TestStand comes up in shrunk form, and all opened files come in shrunk form too - see attachment.

Q: What can I do to save my settings so that when I open a new TEstStand session / sequence file - I will get the toolbar etc configuration exactly the same that I had when in previous session ?

Thanks, Chris

Hello Chris -

I think what you are seeing is a known issue with TestStand 2.0.x that happens often in cases when you close the application by first minimizing it down onto the Window's taskbar and then close it via the taskbar. The software incorrectly remembers these reduced window settings and that is why the odd view on the next launch occurs. Sadly, there is no patch for TestStand 2.0.x to correct this behavior. Customers who saw it have been encouraged to restore TestStand to its normal sized application window before exiting as a way to avoid this irritation.

TestStand 3.0 has been tested here and does not demonstrate this problem, so you may want to investigate the evaluation copy if you have the time and interest.

If you are getting this behavior even when closing normally, or if you are seeing it with TestStand 3.0, I would like to hear more about how you are encountering it.

It is NOT the case with me - I close TS normally - with ALL windows maximized etc. I even tried to close TS
with SHIFT pressed - did not make a difference.
What helps is that if I close TS with the settings I want and then reboot the PC - then occasionally I get TS back to what I want, but for no known reason eventually it will be bad again.
Please note that not only windows are resized - but TOOLBARs are misalligned too - as per my initial attachment.

Hello Chris,

I saw this behavior a while ago and if I remember right the solution was to quit TestStand (with the toolbar and windows sized to your desire) with the Main-SequenceEditor Window not minimized and NOT maximized but sized in between (sorry I don't know the correct phrase for this size of a Window).
Please note that the window must be at least as large as the toolbar, otherwise TestStand will wrap the toolbar the next time you start the Sequence Editor.

Hope this helps!

Regards
Herbert

Hello Chris -

The toolbars misaligning is a symptom of the window not remembering to maintain the correct size, so I wouldn't worry about that in particular. If we can figure out why the window thinks it doesn't have room for the toolbars in its normal layout, we can solve this problem too. When you say 'maximized' do you mean that the window takes up the full screen/desktop? Have you tried leaving the windows in their default /classic mode (neither minimized nor maximized) and closing TestStand? This may be the key behavior we need to isolate.
