Sequence running slowly...

Hi all,

I'm new to this LabView and TestStand malarky... And our resident guru has now left the Division.

We have two pieces of software written in Labview 7.1 and sequenced in TestStand 3.1. Both pieces of software have been installed on a single workstation with all related jig and tooling. This works correctly and as designed.

The process now needs to be separated to increase production efficency. So one of the pieces of software was installed onto a new workstation. The process seems to run considerably slower though on this new workstation. Why is this?

I have tried a few possible solutions including completely installing the same software onto a new workstation with the same results.

I have compiled the sequence into an install file with a few different options selected, but to be honest I'm not entirely sure what I should be changing?

Is there anything in TestStand that sets a certain sampling rate? Or how fast each VI is executed?

A few of the problems have been overcome by changing timebases on the graphs which has resulted in a faster trace along the X axis to match the current production jig.

Any help'd be much appreciated!

Hi Chris,

One difference, do have Tracing enabled on you old systems, i.e. do you see in the SeqEditor or Operator Interface each step being displayed as it executes.

and therefore do you have the same settings on the new system.

Yes, with the old system it seems like Tracing is enabled as it steps through each process in turn and displays them as it runs.

I am currently compiling a version with Tracing disabled to note any differences.

Just another oddity I've noticed between the workstations is that the buttons and panels all seem to suffer from slight graphical glitches...

When you click a button it's almost as if it defaults to a 256 colours render or similar. Any chance this could be related?

Could this be related to the way and order in which LabView and TestStand were installed?

Is your graphics cards the same on both systems. Check your display property settings

Yes, they are exactly the same spec computers with the same graphics card and driver...

The suggestion to compare speeds without tracing is good because this will compare the execution speed of your sequences by removing general message handling between TestStand and the GUI and any delays in refreshing the GUI. There are also some general benchmark examples that ship with TestStand that might be helpful in identifying if there is an underlying execution speed issue independent of your specific sequences.
