calibration executive

HI Sarah

I am using an Agilent 3634A power supply cal date23 Feb 2007 and an Agilent34401A DMM cal date 12 Jan 2008.  It just seems strange that I could calibrate the PCI 6034E Daq card with my system but not the SCXI 1102s.

Cheers

Hi Herbie,

I just got a response back from the US.

Apparently there have been many changes to the SCXI-1102 procedure since version 2.1 which was released in 2002. When this product was ported over to DAQmx, the procedure was completely rewritten, and it is uncertain if the old procedure would give valid failure notices or not. Are you using DAQmx or traditional DAQ?

Another possible cause for the failure is the DAQ card you're using. The PCI-6034E is not one of the recommended DAQ devices to be used for calibration. We recommend the NI 6030E, 6031E, 6032E, or 6033E. Other DAQ devices introduce too much offset into the measurements, and this might be why you're seeing failures.

If you are using DAQmx, it is recommended that you upgrade to CalExec 3.2. If not, you may need to purchase the approved DAQ board if you want to be sure about this calibration result.

Hi Sarah

Thanks for your efforts in trying to solve my problem.  I am using traditional Daq and I have used the PCI 6034E card in the past.  My supervisor has obtained an evaluation copy of Teststand which he says I can use to operate Cal Executive without the -98mV range being tested. My personal feeling is that as Cal Executive is a standalone programme I cannot influence it in any way. Is this correct?

Hi Herbie

I just had a look through the installed files for cal exec and there is a sequence file included for all the devices you can test:
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Calibration Executive\Procedures

You could open that sequence file in TestStand and customise it to suit your test requirements. Please bear in mind that the sequence file won't be supported by National Instruments once you make changes to it.
