change default value of variables

How do I change the default value of parameters shown in the Step setting pane. I am using TestStand 4.0. Its obvious how to change the current value but if I check the Default box, TestStand populates this with some original value...???

Assuming this step runs a Labview VI, you change the default value right at the front panel of the VI itself. Not within Teststand.

So if I have no default value set in the LV VI why does TestStand persistantly show me an old default value when the default button is checked.

There is always a default value set in Labview, you should go check to see what this is.

Right click on the control in labview on the front panel, click Data Operations --> Reinitialize to default value

To set a new default value, enter a new value on the control then right click on it, click Data Operations --> Make current value default

Don't forget to save the vi and reload the prototype in TestStand.
