Did you mean:

file types recognized in other file ?!

Hi,

I don't know if the following behavior is "normal" or not.  In any case it is not what I want from TS.

I define a variable in FileTypes of seqFileA.seq.
I try to define a verialbe with the same name in seqFileB FileTypes and I get an error message that this name is already recognized.

Arn't FileTypes specific to a specific file?

Thanks

Hey Rafi,

They are specific to the files but when you have them loaded in memory at the same time then it doesn't know which one to pull from.  Allen wrote a great article about types located here: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6024

One more thing-

If they are the same type you can just copy it from one file to the other.

The Developer Zone Tutorial that Jigg mentioned has been replaced by an architectural document on types' best practices. Check out the NI TestStand Advanced Architecture Series, and the NI TestStand Type Management Best Practices.

Enjoy!
