Can I upgrade the hard drive in my PXI-8176 controller?

I have a PXI-8176 controller with a 16GB hard drive. Can I replace the disk with a bigger one?

The PXI controllers use Laptop hard drives (2.5 inch IDE)so they can be replaced in the same fashion. Replacing a HD will void any waranties you may have however, so that may or may not be a consideration for you. One consideration to think about is that we recommend using a 8.5 mm thick HD. If it is larger than 9.5 mm, it will protude a bit and block slot 2 in your chassis.

Thanks. I'd like to put in a 9.5 mm 80GB drive. Will the BIOS be able to address that much space?

I don't have a specific spec for the 8176, but the 8186 BIOS can handle up to 2 terabytes, so you should be fine with 80 Gig.
