Can the Digital RIO with Virtex-II 3M Gate FPGA communicate via I2C,SMBus,SPI and CAN?

Hi All,

I am working on a test system and I would like a PXI that can be used for the following functions:

Xilinx FPGA/CPLD

Atmel SAM Microprocessor FLASH

e.t.c

and should be able to communicate via

I2C, SPI, SMBUS, and CAN.

I really would like to minimize the number of components for this functions. Any recommendation will really help.

Thanks,

Stan

Hi Stan,

A PXI board with a FPGA on it can be used for multiple purposes, as you can configure the hardware as you need it. I assume that you are looking for a PXI board that can be used to talk to different devices such as the ones you mentioned? (FPGA/CPLD, Amtel SAM Microprocesson FLASH, etc) and you want this board to talk to these devices using I2C, SPI, SMBUS and CAN protocols, is this correct?

If you, you will find in this link the API for I2C and SPI for LabVIEW Real Time and LabVIEW FPGA.

Hi Stan,

Thanks for your reply, so an R-Series board comes with an FPGA, this gives this card the possibility to be reconfigured for specific purposes, we already have the API for I2C and SPI available, so this can be used in the R-Series boards, now, I was not able to find any pre-built code for SMBUS and CAN for PXI RIO but you can program your own protocol on this cards because the FPGA can be reconfigured.

If you are looking for more product specs and features you can give us a callback to (888) 280-7645.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.
