Configuring IP address on 8145RT module

I am trying to configure IP address on my 8145RT module. I was successful in doing so once, I dowloaded all the necessary support software to it and was able to test my LV code. I powered down the unit for the night and the next day unit was not responding to ping or MAX.
I have restarted the device with IPRST and MAX finds as set to 0.0.0.0 just fine. However, after comitting the new ip and rebooting (with switch set to NORM) the device is does not respond to any call and MAX doesn't find it.

Any idea what might be happening?

Hi Slawek,

After committing a new IP address to the controller, were you able to ping that IP? I would also use the serial redirect switch on the controller to see if the controller is booting up fine and holding on to the new IP address. Also, it will be a good idea to just use a cross-over cable to connect to the controller instead of going through the network as this will eliminate any network problems.

No, I wasn't able to ping it. I called NI support and they suggested reformatting the Compact Flash disk. That seemed to work because after that I installed LV RT the controller booted in a Normal Mode. Installation of NIDAQmx took few tries because the controller would halt in the middle of installation.
The system is still not fully configured as it recognizes only one of my 4472 cards I have in the chassis. I tried swaping slots but that doesn't help.
I am evaluating RT as an option to move our Windows system to but so far this experience has been rather discouraging. I hope the newer controllers are better and more robust.

Hi Slawek,

From your last post I infer that your RT controller is now booting up fine and DAQmx driver has been installed correctly. The issue at hand is that only one of your 4472 cards show up in MAX.

Have you installed all the necessary drivers for the 4472? Also, have you tried to acquire data from the 4472 card that you can see in MAX to verify that it works fine? When you interchanged the slots of the working 4472 with the one in question did the problem follow the slot or the card? The first step in the debugging process that I usually follow is to isolate the problem and once the cause is known then try to find a solution or a work around.
