Data rate of PXIe‑1090

I am looking at the specifications of the PXIE-1090 with a look to buy one for our instrument. I am wondering what the maximum through put will be. I have two identical modules, both 8 lane gen 3 (so 64 GT/s).

Thunderbolt is limited to 40Gb/s and that is stated in the user manual. Furthermore, the chassis is advertised as 2GB/s (note big "B" meaning bytes, I guess?) which suggests 16Gb/s. but to get from bits/bytes to GT/s requires knowing something about the encoding, the switch and the topology. e.g. GEN3 128b/130b encoding would suggest the chassis supports 15.75GT/s but that is not a standard PCIe rate/lane combination. If anyone has any details, please let me know before we buy one.

The moment you're thinking of data throughput and rate, it indicates you will need a full-scale PXIe system with embedded controller.

I interpret the 2GB/s as whole for the Thunderbolt3 port and not just per lane.
