Desktop PC instead of PXIe8840 in PXIE1078

Hello,

 

We have the following setup:

PXIe-1078 chassis

PXIe-8840 controller inside this chassis

 

We want to replace this controller with standard desktop PC and connect it to chassis. Is this possible and what are the options?

NI at least used to have bundles that included a PCIe card, MXI cable, and PXIe card.  But I'm not finding the product page for those.
