Error using 5122 in Slot 13 of PXI-1045

We have just received a PXI-1045 18-slot chassis with the following
configuration:
Slot 1: PXI-8187 Controller
Slot 2: PXI-6608 Counter/Timer
Slot 3: PXI-5122
Slot 4: PXI-5122

The initial configuration works fine. Our reason for choosing the 18-slot chassis is to take advantage of the 3 separate bus segments so each 5122 can separately stream data to a Conduant Streamstor card (not yet installed). When the second 5122 card is installed in slot 13 (the third bus segment) the card is detected in MAX, but a self-test fails with error -88705: "The specified device is not present or is not active in the system. The device may not be installed on this system, may have been unplugged, or may not be installed correctly." The car
d does not work in slot 14 (segment 3) but _does_ work in segment 12 (segment 2).

We are using:
MAX 3.1.1.3003
NI-DAQmx 7.3.0f0
NI-Scope 2.7.0f5
Windows 2000

Thanks for any help or suggestions you can make.

Hi,

The 3 PCI Bus Segments are seamless from a user perspective when configuring hardware in MAX. Your device should pass self-test in slots 13 and 14.

It would be helpful to know if you have been able to use any devices in any of slots 13-18. This way we can determine if there is something wrong with the PCI-PCI bridge between bus segments 2 and 3.

Please try your other 5122 and your 6608 in slots 13-18 and tell me if they work. Then we can continue from there.

Thanks,

I tried the 6608 in slot 13 and it works fine. I tried both 5122s in slot 13 (both with the other cards in slots 2&3 and with them removed) and I still get the same error. Is there any other configuration I should check?

Hi,

I have been looking into this problem and it would be best to either get a Field Sales Engineer out to visit you or generate a RMA for your chassis to be sent back to us.

Please contact NI support via ni.com/support or by dialing 1-800-433-3488 and indicate that you have a damaged PXI chassis. When you are routed to the PXI Applications Engineering group, please ask for Andrew.

I look forward to hearing from you,
