Hi folks,
I meant to say that LabVIEW 8.2 was installed and then we started getting problems with MAX.
8.0 seemed to be more stable.
So, we uninstalled MAX, reinstalled it and again it had the same problem. Then we downloaded the latest MAX from NI website and it helped. We thought the problem went away, but then two days later, same trouble again. MAX seems to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and will not read the database.
The config files seems to have been changed two days ago, when we shut the computer down. Not quite sure where the problem is, WinXP or LabVIEW.
It is such a bummer having to uninstall MAX, takes half an hour and another hour to reinstall everything.

Thanks, Nikhil for your reply.
LabVIEW 8.2 is so temperamental sometimes that there seems to be no way to please her.
The above problem happened yet again and we tried the system restore and everything else suggested here. Again we had to "Repair" (from Add-Remove programs) the installation and download the latest MAX and install it. The only thing that works is to remove and reinstall MAX and in some cases the whole LabVIEW 8.2.
It is such a pain in the nether anatomy, really.
