Hello, I'm upgrading the s/w of my RIO controller (9004) from NI-RIO 2.0 - 3.0) but cannot go through. It says NI RIO 3.0 requires RPC 3.4.1. Is this supposed to be associated with NI-RIO 3.0 or do I need to download this from this site? I ask because I cannot find this RPC 3.4.1.
Please advice. Thank you very much in advance!!!

It sounds like you trying to use the RIO driver with LabVIEW 8.0.x. Can you confirm the version of LabVIEW that you are using? NI-RIO 3.0 is not supported for use with LabVIEW 8.0.x as stated in the readme. If that is the issue, and you are using that version of LabVIEW or earlier you will need to use NI-RIO2.x As additional background for anyone else who might read this and offer advice, is there a particular reason or issue causing you to upgrade your driver?

John

I'm using LV 8.6.
The reason I'm upgrading it to 3.0 is because I have NI-RIO 3.0 installed into my PC. Having older version (2.0) in my controller causes me an error and also MAX adviced me to upgrade the s/w in my controller. Hope this helps, do you know where can I get the RPC 3.4.1?

RPC is an underlying part of the driver. It's likely the issue is the jump from 2.0 to 3.0 is causing the issue. There have been quite a few versions of the RIO driver between 2.0 and 3.0 and it's possible that a software upgrade that far ago wasn't tested.
I'd like to get an image of your controller and and do some testing to verify this behavior and see if there is anything that we can change to improve this. To get an image, FTP to the controller using Windows Explorer and copy the entire contents of the controller. Then if you Zip it up (name is something like KowdTek) you can post it at ftp://ftp.ni.com/incoming and then just reply here and let me know it's there and the name.
To fix the controller, you should be able to Format it from MAX and then install fresh software from the host. Let me know how it goes.

John

Hello John,
Yes I figured it's part of the driver, I'm currently downloading NI RIO 2.4.1 to see if the RPC version I'm looking for is present. I guess I just need this RPC version available in the host in order for me to upgrade the controller. I'll get back to you on the image of controller, just waiting for the download to finish (too slow)..
Thanks for the follow up.
