Hello,
I have two NI PXI-1045 chassis equipped with NI PXI-8108 controllers. In each chassis I have a number of PXI-4071 DMM modules. I would like to trigger the acquisition on all the DMMs at the same time. At the moment I'm using an external USB DAQ board connected to the SMB connectors on the front panels of my controllers, which by software are routed to one of the PXI trigger lines. I would like to know if there is a better way of doing it.
Is it possible to issue a trigger onto one of the PXI trigger lines using the PXI controller module or PXI-4071 DMM module?
Thank you,
Mateusz

Hello Mateusz.Bednarek,
There are two ways to get your Trigger Signal onto the PXI Backplane:
-Route the Trigger Input of the PXI Controller to the Backplane (this is what you did)
-Connect the Trigger Signal to one of the DMMs in each Chassis, and route the Signal trough the DMM onto the Backplane.
The only difference between these solutions is the propagation delay of the Signal due to different length of Signal Paths.
Compared to the propagation delay the DMMs have a bigger Trigger delay, so in my opinion both Solutions are equal.
For a more accurate Synchronisation of the two PXI Chassis, additional Hardware will be required.
