Problem with using MXI-4 in a Magma expansion chassis

I have used the Magma chassis with the MXI-3 and everything works just fine. I just purchased a new MXI-4 system (PXI-1000B, 4472 6602) and my computer will not boot up. Are there any known differences between MXI-3 and MXI-4 that would cause this?

Kevin,

There should be no problem using the setup that you have configured. However, you may want to try changing PCI slots in your PC and moving it to the first slot if you haven't already done so. Also make sure that the PXI chassis is booted up before you attempt to boot the computer. You may want to try this as well with no boards present in the chassis to identify a problem with the boards if one exists. Also make sure that if you are trying to use Win XP that you have the latest service pack installed.

I am building the system for in-vehicle testing with a laptop PC. The only reason for the Magma chassis is to link the laptop to the PXI chassis. I would love a Firewire link directly from laptop to PXI-1000B but unfortunately, NI does not have one 🙂 I am only using a 1-slot Magma, so I cannot try another PCI slot. I did receive a fix from Magma today that is simply a registry edit. It worked this morning, but have more validation testing to run tomorrow. I will post the info once I confirm it works.

Thanks for the help.

Kevin,

Which registry edit did you get from Magma and who sent the information to you.
Please let me know.

Thank you.
