Renaming NI-PXI devices after power cut

Hi

we had an abrupt power cut and that has corrupted the MAX database so I have copied the 'Data' folder (contains xxx. mxs files etc) from another working machine into the corrupted machine. Opened up MAX and clicked on Devices and Interfaces. There were 5 entries with crosses against them and 5 entries that have green ticks. I deleted the ones with red crosses and tried to rename the ones with green ticks but kept getting a fail message "Sorry the name you have selected is either invalid or in use". I am trying to name the green ticks using the names that were assigned to the ones with red crosses.

Anyone know how I get rename them??????

Thanks Andy

Hey Andy,

You may have some residual references to the old, corrupted names. Have you tried repairing MAX on your machine? This should reinitialise it and may break the links to the old names. If this doesn't work I would recommend reinstalling but be careful to check which NI programs are dependant on MAX before doing so.

Sorry I can't help more.

Chris
