Serial communication using PXI 8106

Hello,

        I am trying to use serial port on PXI 8106 to communicate with other devices. But I am facing trouble in communicating. When I try to use the MAX to communicate using the test panel I get a message saying 'the functionality is not available or the device is not available' . I have installed all the software and hardware properly. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

I would like to make it a bit clear. I am using MAX  to test whether I can communicate using serial port on the PXI 8106 RT. In order to do the test I am adding the serial port connection in the "remote systems" by right clicking "Devices and Interfaces" and selecting "create new" option and adding COM1 serial port. When I try to validate this I get an error saying "insufficient location information or the device or resource is not present".  Visa Error code is : 0xBFFF0011.

What version of LabVIEW RT are you using on the system?  Is there any problem communicating with your RT system to do anything else?
