RFSA 5661 - How to acquire info for power spectrum and Spectrogram graphs?

Greetings,

 

I am using a RFSA PXI-5661 (combo of PXI-5600 and PXI-5142). I am able to acquire a signal and produce the freq vs. power (power spectrum) graph. LabVIEW 8.5 is being used on a Windows XP on a PXI chassis.

 

I am wanting to look at the power spectrum AND time vs. freq (spectrogram) at the same time.

 

I found the following KB article http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/5995  which demonstrate nicely both functions, however, this example is a state machine that as best as I can tell, performs a power spectrum first, then a spectrogram if the use chooses that tab. These seem to be happening in either/or kind of fashion.  Ideally, I want to be able to do both at the same time.

 

It seems that the acquisition mode for the RFSA can be either "Spectrum" or "IQ". Spectrum is great for the power spectrum, and IQ is great for the time vs. freq. 

 

Anyone know of a way to do both with the same RFSA and plot the graphs simultaneously?

You could try adapting the example "SMT IQ spectrum for RFSA" in the example finder under Toolkits and Modules>>Spectral Measurements>>NI RFSA (RF Signal Analyzer).  This aquires IQ data and displays the spectrum. You could then branch wire to the example vi called TFA UTIL RFSA Spectrogram from the tutorial. This assumes you have the spectral measurements toolkit.

 

Could work.

Thanks Gov,

 

I will look at that tomorrow.  If that VI will extract data from the Power Spectrum output then that sounds just like what I need.
