10gbe NIC for Realtime Desktop?

Hello,

I was looking into possibly using a10gbe NIC card (preferably dual-port) for a project that I'm working on that involves a standalone FPGA that will be transmitting lots of data to a LabView RT Desktop. I've tried to look through some of the models that an RT desktop would require, but didn't see any that could go 10gbe, only gigabit. Did I perhaps look over a model, or is there NI hardware that can could do 10gbe on a RT controller, etc? 

Thanks for any help, and if you do know of a compatible 10gbe card that would work with an RT desktop, please let me know 🙂

Hi weiz,

Here's a Developer Zone article that lists all the requirements for a real-time PC: Requirements for Desktop PCs as LabVIEW Real-Time Targets.

Under the Supported Ethernet Chipsets section it lists all the ethernet chipsets that you can use with the different versions of LabVIEW RT. I checked the ones listed for LabVIEW 2009 and it seems that they are all Gigabit Ethernet controllers.  Unfortunately, LabVIEW RT  does not support any models with 10gbe .

Look at The Requirements for Desktop PC's as LabVIEW Real-Time Targets and under the section Supported Ethernet Chipsets. In here lists the supported ethernet chipsets for the specific versions of LabVIEW Real-Time.
