Cannot access NI-DAQmx device through the newly set up RT target system.

I set up a new RT target computer. I can see the target system over the network using MAX. I configured the system and installed all the software. I can remotely reboot the target.

However, I cannot see the NI-DAQmx PCI card that is installed within the target system. When I expand "Devices and Interfaces" group inside my RT target in MAX I see no devices. I am using PCI-MIO-16XE-10 card in the target pc.

  • I checked target PC for RT compatibility using the corresponding diskette image downloaded from NI - it is compatible
  • PCI-MIO-16XE-10 card I am trying to use inside the target was tested inside regular desktop PC and it is operational
  • This problem is in place when I connect to the target through a cross-over ethernet cable as well as when I connect to the target through a local subnet router.
    • When connecting through cross-over cable: I set target and host subnet mask to the same values, and applied different IP addresses. No DHCP/Gateway server used (neither of the computers was connected to outside network)
    • When connecting through local subnet router: I made sure that subnet mask, Gateway and DHCP server addresses match between the target and host system. IP addresses, again, were made different
  • When I am trying to connect to the RT target through the local subnet router and set it to automatically obtain IP address from DHCP server - the target hangs after displaying the IP address.
  • I tried disabling USB, serial, parallel ports support as well as all IRQ channels on the target besides the network card and the NI-DAQmx card - the problem is unaffected.

Any help/input would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

When you expand the 'Devices and Interfaces' folder under your target PC, do you see a listing for anything or is it completely empty?

Also, if you expand the 'Software' entry under your target PC, do you see NI-DAQmx has been installed to the target?  If so, what version of the driver?
