Does anyone have SW to drive a DDC DD-42940M2-300 ARINC-429 PCMCIA card

Hi everyone!

The title says it all - we are trying to control a DDC ARINC-429 PCMCIA card.  They want something like $4000 for their software, which is a bit overblown for us because it does all sorts of fancy stuff, plus supports MIL-STD-1553 as well.  It's not worth paying for.  Has anyone here used LabView to drive the DDC DD-42940M2-300 ARINC card?

Thanks much,

Jason

Jason,

DDC actually publishes a LabVIEW API with their driver for the card, which is available here (look on the bottom left of the page).

I haven't installed it but it probably allows you to access basic features of the card.

Hope this helps.

Thanks much - I appreciate it!  I was able to locate some additional information in the meantime.  If you don't mind me asking, does NI prefer the Condor CEI-715 over the DDC DD_42924M3-300 for any reason.  I see the Condor stuff listed on the NI website, but the DDC is less expensive and does NOT charge $600 for the LabView support.

Thanks,

Jason

Jason,

Neither vendor is an alliance member, so we don't officially prefer one vendor over the other. Personally, I would opt for the card with the better LabVIEW API as this will ultimately dictate how long development will take you (the most expensive thing is time!).  Perhaps some other users could comment on their experiences with the products or APIs?
