Hi I've got my SBRIO to show up in MAX, but I cannot create a project in LabVIEW 2009 that has the SBRIO as a target. I'd like to program a VI for the SBRIO's FPGA.
Sorry for any inconvience caused by the huge images.
Three seperate screen shots in one image below. They show what I did after creating a new project and the lack of the SBRIO showing up.

Sorry about that.

Hi,
Are you on the same network? Your latest screen shot shows that MAX is no longer communicating with the SBRIO. Your first screen shot where MAX is communicating with the SBRIO shows that the apply needed to be set and that you had given the unit a fixed IP.
Having said all that you should still of had the option of adding a cRIO target.
You might try to reinstall NI RIO or try a more recent version. I think that you should see more than the CompactRIO and R series Intelligent DAQ software, on RIO 3.3 there are also C series modules and FlexRIO.
NI Rio is currently at 3.3.1
Cheers

I'll try reinstalling NI-RIO to the latest version (3.3.1).
I was not connected to the SBRIO in the last image I posted (because it was not attached via Ethernet to my computer). All in all my experience with LabVIEW and the SBRIO has been very frustrating.

I'm sorry to hear that your experience is so frustrating, Mahir. I hope we can solve this for you.
It's obvious by looking at the screenshots of your project that NI-RIO is not installed properly for that version of LabVIEW. If things were installed correctly, the add targets dialog would have expandable folders for cRIO controllers and sbRIO targets. This can happen if you isntall NI-RIO before you install LabVIEW. If you install LabVIEW first, then the NI-RIO installer detects this and turns on all the features for that version of LabVIEW automatically. If you install NI-RIO first, you would have to manually go through the entire feature tree in the installer and turn the LV 2009 features on. To be clear, I'm takling about running the installer from the CD that came with your hardware (or a newer installer that you downloaded from ni.com). I'm not talking about installing software onto the sbRIO. LabVIEW should find the sbRIO even if there's no software installed on it.

Hi Mahir,
Have you tried to add the Single-Board RIO to your project through the "Specifiy Target or Device by IP Address" option. Because you know the IP Address of your system from MAX, you should be able to choose that option and then supply your IP Address.

Yes, I'm assuming I'd have to add it as Networked Computer/Device. Having done that I still can't do anything with it after it's been added.

Yeah, Mahir, NI-RIO is still not installed properly for some reason.
Here's what the Add Targets dialog should look like:
Sorry that I'm not helping much. I really don't know why NI-RIO isn't getting installed properly. (WAY TOO MUCH DETAIL: The RIO provider for LabVIEW is clearly missing or not loading.) You may have to remove all the CompactRIO features from your system and reinstall them.
