Hello, this is the first i used rio eval kit,and i just connected it to my laptop through ethernet.the kit was found in the included kit wizard software, but after i set the ip(192.168.1.2,mask 255.255.255.0),the software said something wrong and rescaned device, and after that the kit couldn't be recgonized.i following FAQ pressed the reset button for 5seconds,but it didn't work.now the status led just flashes one time(lasting for 2 seconds, during which the two leds of the eth port turn off) per almost 12 seconds.i have tried ni max but it can't find the kit either.please help me.

Try setting the IP Reset DIP switch to on, and reset RIO. After that, you should be able to detect it again. Make sure that you set IP Reset DIP switch to off afterwards unless your IP keep on resetting after reset RIO. For the IP set, make sure that it's under the same subnet as your laptop Ethernet port, and not utlilizing the same IP address.

it seems that there is no dip switch on the evaluation board.the datasheet says pressing the reset button for 5s works as you said, but i have tried and still failed.

Hi scienve,
Are you still having any issues with that? It sounds like you have been following the directions here, which is correct. The dip switches mentioned above aren't physically on the board, but can be found in MAX on the Controller Settings Tab, when your kit is selected:
After the IP address has been properly reset, if you use this method, be sure to uncheck the box so it doesn't reset again the next time you reboot the kit.
Hope this helps!

This strange problem has been solved. It seems that if you press the button for a long time (much more than 5 seconds, such as 10 seconds), the board will turn to the state I described above instead of the safe mode described in the FAQ(the led flashes 3 times per several seconds). You just need to press the button again for accurately 5 seconds and the board will enter safe mode.
But generally speaking, many people will press the button for more than 5 seconds to make sure that the board has entered safe mode.So I think NI should add a note in the FAQ that YOU DO NOT press the button for so long .Just 5 seconds around is enough.

Hi scienve,
Thank you for the feedback, I will review the FAQ to make it more precise where necessary.

I finally succeded to find the kit, but when i run the utility setup, it will not deploy to the system.
Any clues on how to do this?

Hello Lars,
As scienve mentioned, you can alternately use NI MAX to find and set the kit's IP address and install software to the target: http://www.ni.com/gettingstarted/setuphardware/compactrio/dhcp.htm
For future reference, here is the LabVIEW RIO Evaluation Kit FAQ document

I´m having exactly the same problem as scienve: the Eval Kit board (sb-RIO 9636) is in this funny state where the Power LED is constantly ON and the STATUS LED stays ON for 2 - 3 seconds and OFF for 10 - 11 seconds (and when it is ON the Ethernet LEDs turn OFF). I tried what worked for him (pressing the RESET switch for exactly 5 seconds) but the board is still in the same state.
In this state, when I run the Setup Utility the board can´t be found.
I´ve tried setting it up through MAX, but it can´t see the board.
Any ideas?
