rio eval kit can't be found by the host

Were  you  connecting the kit directly to a computer? I advise you use a router instead of it.

And how did you enter this state? Did the same thing as i described above?

I think this state is due to the  wrong software installed in the kit.

You can try pressing the button for 5seconds as soon as the kit is powered up.

I'm connecting my host computer to the board through a router.

 

I'm not sure how I entered this state, but the first time I connected the board to the host the Setup Utility recognized the board, but I had problems with the IP settings. Then I reset the board (I think) and it entered this funny state

 

But in the meantime I was able to understand and solve the problem, using these instructions:

After doing this both the Setup Utility and MAX were able to detect and configure the board.

So this funny state indicates that the system is halting when the orange led is on, and is trying to get ip address when the orange led is off(the ethernet led flashes at the same time)?
