My bad.  I figured out the issue regardless.  So for future note if the device name changes for an NI 5421 Generator running the microlex software responds with a -1073807343 at NI Fgen Initialize error.  I fixed it by renaming the card in max to the name on the front panel of the microlex video using seq T vi.
