How can I control the external trigger (output) of DS345?

Hi,

I am a newcomer to Labview. I have a problem about using Labvview to control the external trigger of the "30 MHz Synthesized Function and Arbitrary Waveform Generator: model DS345", I hope someone can help me, thanks a lot.

I need to first send an arbitary waveform to ds345 and then use the external trigger of ds345 to trigger a laser and output the waveform at the same time.

Now, I have downloaded the DS345 IVI driver from the NI web and I have installed it. I try to use the given vi to generate arbitary waveform and it works! But, when I try to use the external trigger vi, I found that it doesn't work. From my CRO I can only observe the waveform if I set the trigger source to 1 or 2, but not for external. I hope the experts here can help me or give me some hints. Thanksx1000000.

You've posted to the wrong board since this is for NI Signal Generators.

Your question makes no sense since the external trigger is an input to the instrument. You would need some external source to generate the trigger and upon receipt, the generator would output the signal. To provide a trigger to an external instrument, you would use the Sync output.

I think you need to carefully read the manual.

Reading further into the manual, there is a trigger output that you can use instead of the sync output.

Thanks for your reply, I have connected the laser to the trigger output of ds345. In my labview program, I can now use the trigger vi to control the laser pulse, but I can't synchronize the output waveform. How can I do it?

Thanks!

I still don't understand what you are doing. If you set the trigger type to external, the DS345 will wait until a pulse arrives at the external trigger input. What are you using to drive this input?
