Hello frc1027,

Can you please elaborate on the behavior you are seeing with your roboRIO 2.0 and the steps you have tried so far?

Have you followed the imaging procedure, as well as the recommendations in this document: FRC roboRIO STATUS LED Constantly Flashing  ?

Thanks,

hi, we have received a RoboRio 2.0 at the start of the 2023 frc season, and out of the box the rio would not boot/load. we strongly believe it is a faulty rio as we are able to swap different rios lent to us by other teams and they work fine, we've tried all recommendations we can find but nothing works. as a result we had to rely entirely on devices lent to us.

the rios we used in place were the same model as the one we ordered and we were able to succeed with our standard protocol when using a different device. Even Robot inspectors had concluded that it is a fault in the Rio and suggested we RMA the device.

@frc1027

Please start a new thread for seperate issues. This helps to avoid confusion on which teams have tried what.

One note, a lot of teams have gotten tripped up on getting device to image properly,

Make sure to image the SD card using the .img.zip file with either BalenaEtcher or the Raspberry Pi imager as described here: https://docs.wpilib.org/en/stable/docs/zero-to-robot/step-3/roborio2-imaging.html

this is the same issue just still unresolved, we have the have used the correct imaging files in the sd card. this has been ruled out and tested for by several different people at several different times.

the only remaining possibilities is that the rio is faulty, or has gained sentience and decided to go on strike for better working conditions.

Ah, I should have checked the username on the original post.

roboRIO units are tested before they leave manufacturing. What is the behavior you see when attempting to power the device? no lights? solid red power? flashing status?

we get a solid red power light.

Thank you.

A solid red power light means the device has detected a short and entered safe mode. We've had a few teams report having units do this on arival.

Please open the device using the four screws on the back and the two screws at the port port and clean the circuit board off using compressed air. (Maybe also use a flashlight to inspect the board closely for any remaining metal shards or other foreign materials and remove them as well.)
